Brand
Panasonic began in 1918, when Konosuke Matsushita started an electrical business in Japan, and for decades the company was Matsushita Electric, selling under the National and, from 1955, the Panasonic names before taking the Panasonic name itself in 2008. It was a partner in DV, the digital format a Sony and Panasonic group launched in 1995, and for families it made Palmcorders on VHS-C, like the 1995 PV-A206, which Consumer Guide picked as a Best Buy, then small PV-GS MiniDV cameras into 2007. Its best-known camcorder is the AG-DVX100 of 2002, a MiniDV camera that could shoot at 24 frames a second, the rate of film. In the US its consumer models start with PV-; the PAL versions start with NV-.
