The CC6151 is RCA's late-90s VHS-C palmcorder, from a 1998 manual it shares with the CC6251 and CC6271. They're the same camera with different viewfinders, and the CC6151 is the one with the black-and-white eyepiece. None of them has a flip-out screen. What it does have is reach. The 22x zoom runs from 3.8 to 83.6 mm, and there's a flying erase head for clean joins between scenes, an automatic head cleaner, time-lapse and animation modes and a Quick Record mode. It takes VHS-C cassettes, which drop into an adapter to play on a home VCR. The RCA name belonged to Thomson by then, and Thomson's name is on the manual.

Records
VHS-C, with four video heads, a flying erase head for clean joins between scenes and an automatic head cleaner. It also has time-lapse, animation and self-timer recording.
Plays back
VHS-C tapes. To watch them on a home VCR, put the tape in a VHS-C adapter cassette and it plays like a full-size VHS tape.
Getting footage off it
Analog only. The manual covers audio and video output and an RF hookup to a TV, so capture means playing the tape into a USB capture device in real time. There's no digital output.
TV system
NTSC, made for the US. Its tapes play on an NTSC VHS deck through a VHS-C adapter cassette.
Battery and power
It runs at 6 volts on nickel-cadmium packs: the FB1260, rated for about 50 to 55 minutes, or the larger BB700 at about 75 to 85. Treat an original pack as dead, and ask the seller what charger or adapter comes with it.
Viewfinder and screen
A 0.5-inch black-and-white electronic viewfinder, and no flip-out screen. The CC6251 and CC6271, which share its manual, have a color viewfinder instead.
Should come with it
An FB1260 or BB700 battery pack
A charger or AC adapter
A VHS-C adapter cassette, if you want to play tapes in a home VCR
Check the listing photos against this list, and ask the seller about anything you can’t see. A missing piece should come off the price.
What to check
No model-specific faults are documented. Its nickel-cadmium packs are decades old, and a camera that only powers on hasn't proved its tape transport works.
01Tested with a tape: Ask the seller whether it has recorded and played back a tape, not just powered on. A short video of playback is what you want.
02Playback picture: Ask for a photo of a tape playing on a TV through the output. A steady picture without heavy snow or lines means the heads are in fair shape.
03Viewfinder: Ask for a photo through the eyepiece with the camera on. A clear black-and-white image matters, since there's no other screen.
04Battery: Check the photos for an FB1260 or BB700 pack. Treat an old nickel-cadmium pack as dead and price it that way.
05Power: Ask what charger or AC adapter comes with it. A listing that shows one saves you hunting for the right 6-volt supply.
06Adapter cassette: Check the photos for a VHS-C adapter cassette if you want to play tapes in a VCR. Without one, plan to find one separately.
07Lens: Zoom in on the lens in the photos, ideally with light shining in. Clear glass with no haze, fog or web-like fungus is what you want.
08Eject: Ask whether a cassette loads and ejects smoothly. A door that opens and closes without sticking or grinding is a good sign.
Every CC6151 here is untested or makes no test claim, so we'd buy the $47 delivered kit with a case, a charger, a battery, tapes and the manual in the photo, and ask the seller to play a tape before paying. There are at least 20 for sale, and bare cameras titled untested ask $22 to $40 delivered, around the $25 to $50 band. Its viewfinder is black and white and there's no flip-out screen, so ask for a photo through the eyepiece and a short video of a tape playing on a TV. It runs on 6-volt FB1260 or BB700 nickel-cadmium packs, so treat any original pack as dead, and you'll need a VHS-C adapter cassette to play tapes in a home VCR. Skip the $97 untested kit, about 2.7 times the median.
